Product Review: 13 Integrative Tai Chi Form
I just reviewed the 13 form DVD and I will say it is what I was hoping for. This will be a great " attention '' getter for those who want more than stationary postures, but who don't have the patience to learn the longer forms. I highly recommend it. This is ideal for the casual player.

I have used the grasping the sparrow's tail left and right as well with rehab patients (both orthopedic and neurologic) at my clinic. I add an opening move and closing move to sandwich the grasping the sparrow's tail right and left and the person has a taste of form work while working on some of the most fundamental apects. I also typically teach first basic tai chi style walking and weight shifting and a few other exercises before giving them that very condensed "mini form"

I recently bought the 13 short form and the 5 animal form dvd's and boy, am I glad that I did. I teach tai chi at our local YMCA, and the 24 short form is kind of hard for the students to learn. They like the idea of the 13 short form. I really like the 5 animal form because I will be able to keep the classes fresh by adding parts of the forms into the class. I'm quite happy with them.

I am happy to report that ALL my Senior classes have greeted the new 13 Form with enthusiasm! Because I have introduced most of my students to several other forms, with emphasis on the Bejing in particular, the anticipated groan, "Omigawd, he's gonna confuse us with even more new movements we've never seen" did not occur. And, because we've done Hwa To's Animals many times over the years I've been up here, most students also immediately identified the step performed with the backfist and palm strike as Deer.
My Seniors particularly liked the "Short and Sweet" characteristic of this Form. A few remarked that the 13 Form really isn't much longer than the "Fa Ching" or "Grasping The Swallow's Tail" right and left. Please do not pass over the opportunity to incorporate the Form Gung, if for no other reason than to provide your students with superb "Right Brain-Left Brain" activities.
If you haven't obtained the "13 Form" DVD yet, I strongly recommend doing so. Your students will love it!
